The artist – Shagal
In the fall of 1914, he walked with his young wife Bella from Vitebsk to Petrograd, who continues to be the artistic and intellectual capital of Russia. Shagal participates in exhibitions, communicates a lot with the elite of Petrograd. Painting "Mirror" – The poetic metaphor of life, the situation in which Bella and he, Mark Shagal were at that time. A tiny figure of a sleeping woman, an Alexandrian column, reflected in the mirror, are symbols of reality (Petrograd) and dreams. The fantastic and total would here, as in other works of Shala, are mixed and give birth to a mysterious, poetic image of the world in which the artist lives.
