The artist is Filonov
Compositions called “heads” in large numbers can be found among the drawings and picturesque works of Filonov, especially often-in the mid-1920s. The head of a man, his face served Filonov perhaps the most fertile material for his “thought” with a brush. In the view of the artist, the human head is a certain model of the universe. In the internal gaze, tearing the skin from his face, the artist in his imagination draws all kinds of connections of the “Small Universe” with the outside world. In the naked structure of the human face, various types are plasticly analyzed, as is obvious in the composition “Two heads”.
