First, in Neskuchny, and then in Petrograd, Serebryakova constantly draws his children: Zhenya, Shura, Tattoo and Katya. In this difficult genre, she manages to avoid sentimentality. Serebryakova portrayed her children for the old fun – the construction of a card house. Cards here are not objects of passion – they are not powerful over children’s souls. The shaky card structure is the personification of the fragile and short -lived world of imagination and the game, which adults only look into, and where the children constantly live.
